ICE CREAM SHOP – concept interior

context and concept

The ice cream shop is located in the centre of Wijnegem. It defines the corner on a busy street and a square. Therefore we opted to open up the shop towards the square, featuring big sliding windows. This gave us the opportunity to add a terrace in front and ensure a connection between the ice cream shop and the square.

The existing structure allowed us to come up with a creative concept, where the interior is split into two spaces, defines by a slanted wall, perforated with three arches. Two small ones on the side to ensure good circulation and one in the centre for the bar. The bar is intertwined with the slanted wall in a 45 degree angle. This angle ensures a good circulation, a working space with overall view of the shop and kitchen, and direct contact to the clients. The bar forms the centre element, where all functions meet.

The interior concept remains soft and natural with different textures to create a dynamic and pleasurable space. Their original pink accent will finds its way in the interior through the choice of fabrics. To counter the pink, we opted for a soft green. The green colour is also represented in the fabric of the seating, as well as in the back area of the interior.
